do_not_be_afraid
My name is Genesis and I’m 26 years old when I got diagnosed HIV positive; yes, HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. And this is my personal testimony about how beautiful life is, specially if you are surrounded with great and positive people. When I heard the news about my status during a closed door counseling, I don’t know how to accept it, I don’t know what to say and what to feel. In other words, I was speechless. Good thing there was counselor who encouraged me to cheer up, to calm down, and to regain my composure. He said it was like a simple mathematical equation, where we have been given an X and Y and we have to accept the given X and Y and find out what it was all about. It was a choice, really. On what path you want to take.

Although the counseling took several hours, it was sort of an eye opener for me that I needed to accept it and live with the virus. I followed his advice and visited the organization that he referred to me, Positive Action Foundation Philippines, Incorporated (PAFPI). The organization helped me regain my life and needless to say, it helped me handle the virus by teaching me how to be more responsible. But most of all, they taught me on how to enjoy and live life to the fullest, because there’s no reason for all of us, positive with HIV, to be afraid and to be anxious. There’s life behind HIV.
