Ladlad party list took the initiative for gift giving for PELPS (Positive ELders Philippines (PELP), Inc.) and PAFPI (Positive Action Foundation Philippines, Inc.) beneficiaries at #PAFPICares Community Center in Manila City last June 29, 2024. The event aimed to bring joy and help to the elderly and people living with HIV/AIDS for the Pride Month Celebration.
Members of the Ladlad party list gathered donations of food, toiletries, and cash contributions from their supporters and sponsors especially from Sagility Health BPO. Sagility Iloilo Bayanihan-BayaniRun Fund Run announced of gift certificate worth Php50,000.00 worth of goods and other resources/materials given to PAFPI for the PLHIV sheltered in PAFPI shelter. They also organized a gift-giving program where they distributed care packages to the beneficiaries.
As part of LADLAD’s activities, #TabangLadladProject, Ladlad’s humanitarian arm, will revisit different areas identified to have a significant elderly LGBT+ population. Elderly individuals face unique challenges, including isolation, discrimination, and lack of access to essential resources. PELPS was identified by the organization to distribute food packs and sanitary kits for its elderly PLHIV members. In connection to this, PAFPI and the PLHIV sheltered in PAFPI Drop-in Center were also among the beneficiaries.
The representatives of PELPS and PAFPI expressed their gratitude to the Ladlad party list for their generosity and thoughtfulness. They acknowledged that the donations and gifts will greatly benefit their clients and help improve their quality of life.
Among those who attended the activity were PAFPI President Emil Garcia, who gave the program introduction, PAFPI BOT Chairman Ferdi Granil, and PELP Vice-President Bobby Ruiz. A speech was delivered by Ladlad Partylist leader Adelo Macaldo, and Sagility Health representative. Ms. Dai Canlas HR manager of Sagility Health Iloilo, remarks couple things as part of her realization, “HIV is not the end of life. Those who are infected with HIV must be part of the prevention and treatment drive. And Sagility Health BPO is an inclusive work environment especially for PLHIV.”
The gift giving, and donation drive organized by Ladlad party list together with its BPO partner – Sagility Health, was a success and a testament to their commitment to serving marginalized communities. They hope to continue this tradition of giving back in the future and inspire others to do the same.
