PAFPI recently conducts its 7th batch of the Online DOH Certification Training for HIV Counseling to Testing Training via Zoom, April 8 – April 12, 2024. The 5-day training is in close coordination with the Department of Health – Metro Manila Center for Health Development. Eighteen (18) active participants are vying for certification by the HIV Master Trainers. Participants in the training were Doctors, Nurses, and Medical Technologists, and Laboratory Owner coming from private diagnostics clinics and Hospitals such as SuperCare Medical Services, Inc – Davao Branch, Angel’s Touch Medical and Diagnostic Clinic, Our Lady of Rosary Hospital and R and J Diagnostic Laboratory, to name a few.
PAFPI’s sustainability project started in 2015 as a response to the exponential increase of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) incidence in the Philippines which prompted the Department of Health, through the Disease Prevention and Control Bureau – National HIV, AIDS and STI Prevention and Control Program (DPCB-NASPCP), to intensify its prevention initiatives, specifically on promoting HIV Counseling and Testing Services (HTS) to key populations at risk so that those with risks are given opportunity to know their HIV status, while those diagnosed with HIV are given appropriate management and care.
The revenues to be collected from these training activities will assist PAFPI to sustain the operation of its two drop-in centers for PLHIVs, where beneficiaries, clients can access temporary shelter while recuperating from their respective infections. These drop-in centers are used as well as the venue of learning sessions and provision of an applicable and holistic approach to care and support services for PLHIVs and their families.
For the first time after the covid19 pandemic limited the HCT training to online capacity, PAFPI will hold its next training schedule through a face-to-face initiative on April 15 – April 19, 2024, Manila Grand Opera Hotel, 925 Doroteo Jose Street corner Rizal Avenue, Santa Cruz, Manila City, Metro Manila, Philippines, 1003.
