My name is Genesis and I’m 26 years old when I got diagnosed HIV positive; yes, HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus. And this is my personal testimony about how beautiful life is, specially if you are surrounded with great and positive people.When I heard the news about my status during a closed door counseling, I don’t know how to accept it, I don’t know what to say and what to feel. In other words, I was speechless. Good thing there was counselor who encouraged me to cheer up, to calm down, and to regain my composure. He said it was like a simple mathematical equation, where we have been given an X and Y and we have to accept the given X and Y and find out what it was all about. It was a choice, really. On what path you want to take.

The record of new HIV incidence made news last July 2014 when the number reached 585, the highest incidence since 1984. But those who are working in the health sectors and non-government organizations knew that the number will not get any better. “The record of new HIV incidence will not get lower, but it’ll just worsen,” says Mr. Rodel Navarra, Chief Operating Officer of Positive Action Foundation Philippines, Inc. (PAFPI). And true enough, the number of new cases last June 2015, one year after, reached an extremely alarming level at 772 new HIV cases. That’s a big jump from the 17 new HIV incidence per day in 2014 to 22 new HIV incidence in 2015.
