Statistics on HIV shows that young people from ages 15 to 24 and 24 to 39 still ranks second and first, respectively, on the most number of cases in the country. Concerns of parents especially mothers from certain urban areas in Metro Manila regarding HIV awareness and testing is a news not to be missed. They are now being aware of the need to protect their children through proper education and ways to gain access to testing. This shows that a part of the community is accepting the reality by taking action such as availing PAFPI’s free lectures on HIV.

Giving a child access to education in any way is a duty not only of a parent but also of the society. A child’s learning process starts from a supportive environment in the comfort of his/her own home. The information learned by a child from his/her early years will serve as his/her basis to act outside his/her home and will then evolve by applying new experiences from the society he/she is living. This is why PAFPI gladly took the opportunity presented by Makati DepEd Division and parents from Pitogo High School to work together in giving HIV awareness. This initiative gave young people from Pitogo access not only to a supportive community but also access to a brighter future.
